Presentation of the cartoon "Bernadette".
Launch of initiatives for trainers and volunteers on Amoris Laetitia.
Lourdes, 6-7 July 2018

The Vatican Foundation "International Center Family of Nazareth", following the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding with the Hospitalité Notre Dame de Lourdes, aimed at the formation and spiritual accompaniment of trainers, Hospitalité volunteers and welcome of pilgrim families, continues and brings the planned activities to definition.

The Vatican Foundation, represented by President Salvatore Martinez and Secretary General Hector Nardone, will be in Lourdes on Friday 6 and Saturday 7 July for the launch of some initiatives.

Friday and Saturday mornings will be dedicated to the training of the animators and to the training of volunteers, with specific and distinctive programs built on the Apostolic Exhortation "Amoris Laetitia" of Pope Francis. These are training modules on the relationship "family and suffering" that will be an integral part of the programs offered in Lourdes by the Hospitalité Notre Dame de Lourdes.

In the afternoon of Saturday 7th July, at 6.00 pm, there will be the inauguration of a special room for the reception of children and pilgrim parents at the swimming pools of the Sanctuary of Lourdes. It is scheduled the presentation of a methodology of reception and evangelization, built ad hoc by the Vatican Foundation, which is central to the vision of a cartoon entitled "Bernadette", in which the story of the miracle of Lourdes is explained to the children at starting from Bernadette's family history. The short film, on subject and screenplay by Luciana Leone, was produced in 4 languages (French, Italian, English, Spanish), with great artistic accuracy, by the company Animundi s.r.l (Cinecittà - Rome).

The children with their parents, after watching the cartoon, will follow a path of preparation for access to the pools which includes the creation of a Rosary chain and a spiritual experience of prayer and blessing in which parents pray for the children and children for parents.

Local authorities will take part: Bertrand Clerc Renaud, President of the Hospitalité Notre Dame de Lourdes and S.E. Mons. Nicolas Brouwet, Bishop of Tarbes and Lourdes.

President Martinez said: "We are pleased to finalize our agreement with the Hospitalité de Lourdes, a historic institution that has done and keeps on doing so many good things with its approximately 10,000 trainers and volunteers for the reception of pilgrims, especially of the sick, who come to the Shrine from all over the world. We want Lourdes to become "the Marian capital of families", a privileged place of accompaniment and of first evangelization on the great and challenging theme of human suffering. The initiatives that from now on will be carried out by the Hospitalité, with the support of the Vatican Foundation, will focus on children, trainers and volunteers on special modules and programs built on the Apostolic Exhortation of Pope Francis "Amoris Laetitia". Families ask for hospitality, for being listened to and for accompaniment, especially in times of trial which often become a cause of division and destruction. We wish to invest in family love to make out of place of pilgrimage as much hoped as Lourdes, a wonderful opportunity to rediscover the faith and beauty of the Gospel of the family between generations".
